Beat the easy mode in one go. For the normal mode, 5 times. Extremely fun game. Just thinking…wouldn’t it has even more dynamic if the axe can eliminate opponent’s card?

Will probably have to test that idea.

(+1)

Good game

ggs

(+1)

Great and funny game, much potential! good job :) I'll wait the full version

thanks!

(+1)

I sort of figured that coming back to Arsonate would be like when I came back to Buckshot, I'd play again, and manage to win. But man, the Host is MUCH more difficult than the Dealer is! The game has been updated and added a "graveyard" for the cards, and updated the "Fair" gameplay, but I played normal again so I can't speak for the "Fair" difficulty. Now if you can count cards, maybe you'll have better luck with this update, personally I can't, but I did manage to get closer to beating the Host!

I will come back to the game again, I still haven't defeated the Host, and I am determined to see the rest of the game! Thoroughly enjoy it even if I haven't beat it yet!

I appreciate the effort!

(+1)

I really love this game, I need an update pls.

Guys if u haven´t play it yet I don´t know what u waiting for, it´s amazing!!!

Aquí os dejo mi vídeo en español por si os apetece echarle un vistazo al juego, de verdad recomiendo verlo o jugarlo ^^

(+1)

Thanks for playing!

(+2)

concept for a new difficulty.

Love this drawing.
Fire extinguisher in the corner is due to be removed sadly.
it's a holdover from the jam version that I keep forgetting to remove and replace with a broken fire extinguisher cabinet.
I think the final difficulty will be a custom difficulty where you can tune the Host's behavior, change the item pool, or toggle specific rules.
Tho this does make me wonder about extending the Hatchet's effects...

(+1)

sad. i really liked the idea of being able to use that little piece of environment to your advantage, given all the other little interactions you thought about.

maybe in an unfair difficulty you could add other little ways to gain an advantage based on exploiting the environment. i think it's a fun idea that both you and the host are dirty cheaters.

(+1)

i do feel like the hatchet is the weakest item in the game tbh

it is.

(+1)

it probably needs more uses so at least i dont end up with like three of them at the end of the game even if those new uses arent that good

(+1)

love this game and u

(+1)

my recommendation is a storyline or something more to add because the game feels a bit hollow, with just beating the arsonate. Try adding a chase scene because im guessing its supposed to be a horror game of sorts? You dont need to take the advice but im pretty excited for when the full version is out. I'm first in line >:)

might add more hidden sequences but who knows.

gotta get the important stuff out of the way first.

thanks for playing!

(+1)

Great game! please make the demo downloadable on itch.io :)

thx!

Is the downloadable steam version not working for you?

(+1)

What steam game?

the arsonate demo is available on steam

(+2)

i tried it out its a good game but the arsonate always gets what he wants its so annoying, the rng

(+1)

(+1)

its like buckshot roulette lol

kinda!

(+1)

I play on mobile, i like this game

Glad to hear that it works!

(+2)(-3)

hear me out on the HOST... :3

(+3)

bro i love how whenever you win or lose a mode the menu screen changes (not for deaths tho)

Thanks! I thought it'd be neat.

Hello, Nash (_nashset)

I’m a volunteer for the Haunted House Fear Fest, which is an independent horror festival that showcases the work of independent horror filmmakers and game developers. The point of the fest is to celebrate all things horror with the contributions of small horror creators. The festival will take place from October 24th to 26th in the Triad Theater in NYC (New York City).

I played your game and love the level of detail that it has. I also love how the fire gets worse as you progress through a match. It makes the game more intense!

If you’re interested in submitting, then all you have to do is submit your game on itch.io and Film Freeway and pay the submission fee. Links to the Haunted House Fear Fest pages will be provided in this message. You can pay the submission fee on our film freeway page and choose the game category that fits your game and use the 50% discount code: HHFFGAMEJAM50.

I hope to hear back from you!

Best,

I'd be honored! But do you think this game is appropriate for the theme, "Are you afraid of the dark?"

It might not be, but the theme isn’t strictly enforced so still feel free to apply.

There are many things that happen in the dark, even when there is a fire. Feel free to submit

Such a fun game can't wait for the full game

thanks for playing!

(+1)

After seeing Vinny from Vinesauce play it. I Skipped easy mode, and went straight for normal mode. Beat it 1st try. Awesome concept. can't wait for the full release with PVP

(1 edit) (+1)

Thats crazy coz it only happens to a handful of people. good going!

best 2/3?

(+1)

I'm going to wait for the full release so I can play the harder modes! Again well done on this. I look forward to your future projects

oh well, worth a shot.

thanks for playing!

(+1)

I'm rarely someone who plays single player games, or at least has a hard time doing it. So the fact I played this demo is a big thing for me. You should be proud for your creation. I am someone who loves board games, as I'm sure you do yourself which is why you made this

(+1)

Wow...

(+1)

(+1)

Still loving the game

glad to hear that!

(+2)

Am i still allowed to not like this game? I just never have fun when playing. Getting crowbarred sucks, and no, making easy mode easier doesn't help cause im no wuss, I still feel like i have no control, you always choose the red line if you can, always use your items as soon as possible so you cant get crowbarred, and if your items suck.... then too bad skill dif. still feels like luigis casino, and the graveyard, while cool is useless in game, if it connected to the board that would be really cool and add strategy, but alas. I still rate it 5 luigis out of 10, just wixh there was more ways for the player to interact with strategy cause the items are just use them when you can, maybe a item that gets stronger the longer you hold it, or somthing, i'm not a developer so i dont know. i don't hate it, i could just be better, cause at this rate the hardest difficulty will feel grindy and luck based, not bad but needs improving, feel free to roast me in the replies, i'm sorry i'm not intirely positive.

luigi

(+1)

talk about deja vu, i swear this happened allready

(+1)

I loved the game, GG!

ggs!

(1 edit) (+1)

I damn it love how it's playable even on mobile when it wasn't intended to! Game is great, won on normal on first attempt, but was close to game over by one last card, didn't got screenshot ;-;

P.S. Optimisation for web is really great, on first stages around 45 fps, after it solid 20, but i have not best phone anyways 👍

Also if you want to translate game later on other languages, i'm native russian.

lol i wanted the game to run on mobile so bad but could only get so far without compromising too much on visuals.

(1 edit) (+1)

I think natively game will play better than on web, cause yknow, browser eating ram after all.

ps. I think if you will lower quality of fire a bit and make textures a bit lower quality, natively game will play more fluently on mobiles, also you can add internal resolution thingy ig.

(1 edit)

That's the thing, i already lowered the texture quality on the fires/embers/smoke but its likely the shaders themselves.

It uses a VFX kit I got from the asset store and Im no shader wizard sadly.

Best I could do was turn off the non-essential shader tricks and have the game remove fires farthest from the player when a low fps was detected.

(+1)

Oof, but after all if basically count, on device itself it will run a bit smoother, and i'm not a dev to really help, just thinking logically, and it's my limit.

(1 edit) (+1)

I freaking love how dramatic it is when [HOST] uses the extinguisher or the hatchet. (also the crowbar)

thanks! Was running out of time to get the demo out in 6 months so the animations are mostly reused.

(+1)

There is a fire extinguisher on the wall, i should be able to F$#^&*! use it >:[(great game though)

oh yea that was a holdover from when earlier builds of the game had a water bucket instead.
gotta do something abt that.

(+1)

As i was saying, let people use it, Have the host get huffy, maybe the host will use it if hes about to loose and it hasn't been used, bringing attention to the environment, cool shit like that is what makes inscryption great instead of good, sorry if this sounds angry, it isnt, i just like the game and want it to be great

(+1)

ill download it name my own price of 10k and after this u iwll have to pay unity >:D jk

(2 edits)

unity requires $200k before they charge me 💀
I'll also have to explain to the IRS where I suddenly pulled $200k from.

lmao da new mrbeast... I'll start using godot ig

(+1)

Flaming Hot Inscription. Good game.

thanks for playing!

(+1)

How does Mr.[HOST] deal the cards like that at the beginning?  Man has some legendary card skills.

(great game btw keep up the great work)

(+1)

he's got some crazy hand skills

(super good game)

(+1)

Ah, but where did he get his skills?

(+1)

He just froze time and launched them perfectly. Only description I could think of other than the fact that the [HOST] is an inferno ghost.

dude's got that aura.

(+2)(-1)

Absolute banger

🗣🔥🔥

(+1)

Good game

thanks!

(+1)

Very nice game

thanks!

(+4)

Wake up babe, new inscryption just dropped

(+1)

(+1)

ur girl....?

(+2)

Sparkling with potential, this game is a blazing success in its current form. The flow is quick and snappy, with a fiery atmosphere that keeps you engaged. As a fan of the game that inspired it, I'm thrilled to see this title ignite the same passion and excitement. I'm curious to see what's in store for the full release - will it be a smoldering ember or a raging inferno of new content? Either way, I'm eagerly anticipating the next update and can't wait to see this game reach its full blaze of glory.

am also eagerly anticipating

(+2)

Hello this is best game done on unity ever i don't know how long and how hard it was to make this game but i think you could not do it better super

(+1)

how old even are you?:O

(+2)

I make games on unity too but never shared one:P My favourite type is horror and card lol

(+1)

Hi! You definitely should share your games! :) it’s a really good way to get feedback and improve; and it adds more cool games to the world.

^what they said

(+1)

never seen that lol I just finished alpha version before going on vacation so i will share it when i get home, school is also starting for me in 2 weeks so im kinda small on time cuz im going in 6th class it can be hard

(+1)

oooo!! I understand! When I was in school I had to wait 3 hours to get home so time was really short 😔! Good luck!

(2 edits)

twenty somethin

(+1)

oh cool your exactly 9 years older

thanks!
i wish i was using Godot

(+1)

why lol i feel like godot is too easy to use i tried both, unity and godot. Godot is so easy that i think is used by peapole that really don't know how to code. But ok i guess

Main reason being that Unity starts making you pay up if your game becomes profitable enough.
They're introducing a "Runtime Fee" on top of making you pay for "Unity Pro".
It's likely that these practices might become increasingly predatory.
Godot is open source, meaning that I won't be at the mercy of any corporation for making games with it.

I personally prefer engines that are easy to use.
It makes coding and debugging less of a headache so I can focus more on the game design itself.
I think before Godot became more mainstream,
Unity was one of the easiest 3D game engines with decent power under the hood.

Godot may not be as powerful or convenient,
but it's definitely getting there.
Though I really do dislike that gdscript is required for many things.

(+1)

Wait what lol I didn't know that lol I never even readed gulides or FAQs lol I may still use unity caouse I know it better than godot but I'll watch'out to get only 1 or 2 peapole downloading my game instead of Fortnite lol (why TF do everybody play fortnite it's biggest dog sh*t

(+1)

Great Atmosphere keep going :)

Thanks!

(+1)

very, very interesting concept for a card game! a physical version of this game would be very amazingly frustrating (in a good way) to play against your friend(s). kudos for the experience of great atmosphere!

(1 edit)

hopefully my soon-to-be publisher can work something out with that.

(+1)

Loved the game, and got all the endings! With that being said, you should add a mechanic where whenever the host gets a crowbar you get the option to jump out of the tower and into the flaming forest! (seriously tho, great game and can't wait for the official release)

lmao

(+1)

What a fun game that I have played just today and have enjoyed it so much . I like that there are  3 different types of endings that you can get by just playing. like winning the game and getting let go. Or getting the  ones that you loses on and. Picking to put on the mask  or putting  the Mask bin. I cant wait to see the full game come out.

me too.
thanks for playing!

(1 edit) (+2)

Even though it's inspired by Buckshot Roulette I don't think it's similiar at all (other than the aesthetics & host thing) it's a really unique idea & I love the execution! Also I found it pretty funny that the host lost terribly even after cheating so much haha

(+2)

dang i guess u built different.

(+1)

Great game, it's pretty fun and unique even though the inspiration is obvious

thanks!
